PerSe La craie 2022 – TS

Province: Mendoza
Region: Uco Valley
Subregion: Gualtallary, Monasterio, Monte Alabanza
Malbec cofermented with Cabernet Franc
The La Craie plot runs from west to east along the entire southern slope of Monte Alabanza, with 100% south-facing exposure. Here, the soil becomes shallower, and the calcareous rock emerges on the surface.
It was planted, like much of the vineyard, in 2013, and due to its location, it has a cooler microclimate than the other plots. The soil is richer in calcareous material, with a notable presence of white rock visible as you walk through the vineyard.
Regarding the harvest, an unexpected frost in the early hours of March 30 marked the end of the harvest for many growers. While a significant portion of the crop remained on the vines, some producers had to speed up their pace and finish the harvest earlier than expected. This was a rarely seen phenomenon, and although it wasn’t widespread, key areas experienced temperatures between -1°C and as low as -5°C, which undoubtedly had a significant impact on those cases where the harvest had not yet been completed.
The Malbec and Cabernet Franc were destemmed into 500- liter vats, where they co-fermented. The fermentation was spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and the winemaking process involved very gentle daily punching down. The skins remained in contact with the wine for 35 days. The aging process lasted 16 months in used neutral French oak barrels.
The 2022 vintage is less reserved than previous years, initially displaying an eloquently fine expression of mineral wine that blends the character of the soil with the fine herbs of the area. Despite its strength, this is a wine that we believe will develop further in the bottle. On the palate, it has a fluid and graceful presence, with an intense finish.
Total production vintage 2022: 1764 Bottles of 750 cc.

PerSe Volare del Camino 2022 – TS

Province: Mendoza
Region: Uco Valley

Subregion: Gualtallary, Monasterio
100% Malbec
A special year for the calcareous sandy soils of this vineyard, where the shallow profile and naturally low yields gave us a wine of remarkable finesse.
The fruit comes from 16 rows located in the western sector of the vineyard, near the shade of a pine forest. Here, the soils are shallower and richer in limestone, which, together with the limited rooting depth, reduces plant vigor and results in smaller, more concentrated grape clusters.
As for the harvest, an unexpected frost in the early hours of March 30 marked a turning point for many growers. Although a large portion of the crop was still on the vines, some producers had to accelerate their harvest schedule and finish earlier than planned. It was a rare phenomenon — not widespread — but in some key areas, temperatures dropped between -1°C and -5°C, significantly impacting vineyards where the harvest had not yet concluded.
Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, and extraction was kept to a minimum through very gentle daily punch-downs over 30 days. This type of maceration contributes to exceptionally refined tannins, giving the wine its distinctive texture and finesse — qualities that bring it stylistically close to Iubileus. Aging: Just over 14 months in used French oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfiltered.
We like to say that Volare represents a bridge between the classic vineyard and Monte Alabanza. Its tannins are incredibly fine, almost polished, and the mouthfeel is both elegant and intense.
The 2022 vintage follows in the footsteps of 2021: a fresh wine, offering herbal, floral, and earthy notes on the nose. On the palate, it is compact, with a solid mid-palate and a long, persistent finish.
Total production:
1992 bottles of 750 cc.
